A 3-year-old Cobb County boy was able to get out of his apartment, walk downstairs and into the parking lot while his mother was asleep, police said.

A stranger found the boy in the complex parking lot about 6:30 p.m. Sunday and took his hand while attempting to find a parent, according to the an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC. When the two couldn't find a parent, the man called police to the Austell apartment on Six Flags Drive.

Officers arrived and activated a patrol car's lights and sirens to get residents' attention and possibly find the boy's parent, the warrant states.

After about an hour of searching, it was the toddler himself who led an officer to his apartment, according to police.

The door of the apartment was cracked open, and the officer announced himself several times before a woman came to the door and said she was the child's mother, the warrant states. Shea Walker, 28, told police she had taken Tylenol for a migraine headache and went to sleep.

Walker was arrested and charged with contributing to the deprivation of a minor, a misdemeanor charge, Cobb County jail records show. She was booked into jail Sunday evening and released Monday afternoon after posting $1,000 bond, according to booking records.
