Gwinnett County police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a woman’s wallet at Sugarloaf Mills and later broke into her home.

The woman was shopping at Sugarloaf Mills on Aug. 10 and briefly left her purse unattended. During that time, her wallet was stolen. The wallet contained a spare key and items that listed her home address, according to police.

The next day, the victim was at home and heard a noise near her garage. When she went to see what caused the noise, she was hit in the head with a “blunt object” by an unknown person, who then fled the home, police said.

Police believe the wallet theft and the break-in are connected. The suspect was described as a man between 25 and 35 years old. At the time of the wallet theft, he was wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, black sneakers, a dark baseball hat and a gold chain.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
