A 63-year-old man has been added to Atlanta's "most wanted" list for allegedly trying to sneak up on men in a homeless shelter with a knife.
Robert Duke has been charged with aggravated assault in the June 13 incident at an Atlanta Mission shelter on Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard. The Shepherd's Inn can accommodate up to 450 men.
A man in his mid-50s told police he was laying in bed around 5:30 p.m. when the suspect walked in with a knife. The victim jumped down and picked up a “large blower” to defend himself, a police report said. The suspect allegedly told the man: “I’m going to kill you,” and “don’t let me find you in the streets.”
Police have not confirmed whether the blower mentioned refers to a leaf blower.
A staff member broke up the incident and the suspect was made to leave, the report said. The victim wanted to press charges.
Anyone with information on the case may call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. All callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 if their tip leads to an arrest and indictment.
