A father and son from Kentucky were injured early Saturday when they were ejected from a pickup truck following a crash on I-575 in Cobb County.
Cobb police were dispatched to the crash on the northbound side of the interstate at Bells Ferry Road at 5:19 a.m. A preliminary report released by Cobb police said the Ford F-150 was towing a “homemade” flatbed trailer. The driver, 39-year-old Terrance Moore of Louisville, Kentucky, “had worked all night on a labor-intensive job.”
“The driver most likely fell asleep and failed to negotiate a right curve,” Cobb police said.
The truck entered the left emergency lane and crashed into a concrete barrier. Moore began steering right, which caused the truck to enter a clockwise yaw, continue across the highway and separate from the trailer.

Cobb police say the left side of the truck hit a guardrail, which penetrated the compartment on the passenger side. After that impact, the Ford turned counter-clockwise and came to a stop on the shoulder while the trailer came to a stop against the concrete barrier in the left emergency lane, according to police.
Moore and his 18-year-old son, Austin Moore, also of Louisville, Kentucky, were not wearing seatbelts and they were ejected from the pickup truck. Both men were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. The older Moore suffered serious injuries while the 18-year-old passenger had minor injuries. Cobb police spokeswoman Sydney Melton confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the two men were related.
