Bart Nye, President of Prime Time Party Equipment Rental Service in Dayton, Ohio, talks on the phone in his showroom. He was a near-victim of con artists pretending to be from the IRS and demanding immediate payment under threat of arrest.

The  Dunwoody Police Department said the latest local scam involves a phone call claiming you’ve missed jury duty. The scammers claim the court appearance was in the courtroom of actual U.S. District Court Judge C. Ray Mullins.

If a fine isn’t paid, the crooks say you’ll be arrested, police said in a warning on Facebook.

The caller is using the phone number 404-620-1755, though others may be used.

“Judge Mullins' legal assistant has confirmed this is a scam and that no one would call and advise residents to report to the courthouse to pay a fine for missing jury duty,” police said. “If you receive phone calls or emails directing you to pay any amount of money to avoid arrest, please contact the mentioned entity (ex. IRS, police department, etc.) to confirm the information before making any payments or taking any action.”
