A former Smyrna employee is accused of stealing more than $36,000 from the Cobb County city over a four-year period.
Shavonzail Sharese Camp, 33, allegedly took the money while working for the city's permits department between February 2007 and February of this year, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.
Camp is accused of not turning in all of the funds she collected for the city, and instead taking the money for her own use, the warrant states. Receipts were written for services provided, but the proceeds were never turned in for deposit, police said.
Camp, of Braselton, faces charges of theft by taking, making false statements and defrauding property, the warrant states. Camp turned herself in to police on April 29 and was released the next day after posting $50,000 bond, according to Cobb County jail records.
