The Community Assistance Center’s new branch office in Dunwoody is now open, according to a press release.
The public is invited to join staff for a grand opening event 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 with Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. CAC’s Dunwoody office is located at 5 Dunwoody Park South, Building 5, Suite 113, Dunwoody. The office offers access to families who live in that area, particularly those with no car, to CAC services. CAC expects to serve about 400 families a year at the new office.
Community Assistance Center offers free tax return preparation and filing to moderate-to-low income households. The service is available to any household in the Atlanta area earning up to $55,000 in 2019.
Trained and certified volunteer tax preparers are available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. VITA is an initiative of the IRS and the United Way. Appointments are available Jan. 27 – April 15. For an appointment email vita@ourcac.org or call (770) 552-4889 ext 241.
The Community Assistance Center brings together the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody communities to provide compassionate assistance to neighbors in need by providing financial support, helping to meet basic needs and promoting self-reliance. CAC works to prevent homelessness and hunger locally with the support of 28 congregations of all faiths, public and private grants, civic organizations, schools, businesses and individuals. Supporters provide financial resources, in-kind donations and volunteer manpower.
