A 74-year-old Powder Springs woman was tied up and locked inside a closet in her home by an armed gunman Sunday, police said.

The Schofield Drive resident, who was not identified, told Cobb County police she was home alone at about 10 a.m. when she was confronted by a man with a silver handgun.

The man, who had his face covered, tied her up and put her in a closet.

Cash and a silver Lincoln Town Car, bearing Georgia tag 4425 ABN, were taken from the home.

The victim spent several hours in the closet before another resident of the home returned and rescued her. She received minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
