A Marietta woman was recently indicted on malice and felony murder charges after police say she shot her boyfriend while they were arguing in a car.

The Cobb County grand jury handed down its indictment against Crystal Vincent on Dec. 15, charging her with those offenses and others connected the death of 41-year-old Lithia Springs resident Corey Thomas.

According to a Cobb County police warrant, the couple was arguing in a car parked at a Save-A-Lot in Austell about 5:40 p.m. Feb. 27.

During the argument, the warrant said, Vincent pulled a pistol out of her purse and shot Thomas in his chest.

He was taken to WellStar South Cobb Hospital, where he died.

Police did not disclose whether they knew what the argument was about.

Malice murder is Georgia’s equivalent of “first-degree murder,” which other states have and means there was intent in the crime. As for felony murder, that means the defendant caused the death of another person during the commission of a felony.
