Cobb police look into two deadly shootings

Cobb County police are investigating two weekend shootings that led to the deaths of two men.

Corey Dwight Thomas, 41, of Lithia Springs, Michael Tyler, 33, of Marietta, were killed in separate shootings this weekend, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Just before 5:40 p.m. Saturday, police learned a man had been shot inside a car in the parking lot of a Save-A-Lot near Marietta.

When police arrived at the store at 3701 Austell Road, they found Thomas suffering from a gunshot wound, Pierce said.

Thomas was taken to WellStar South Cobb Hospital, where he died.

Thomas’ girlfriend, Crystal Vincent, 35, was arrested in connection with Thomas’ death. She was being held Monday without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault and felony murder.

More than seven hours after Thomas was shot, police were dispatched to another shooting after receiving a call from a man who told them he shot someone inside his Calibre Lake Apartment, Pierce said.

When officers arrived, they found Tyler dead from a gunshot wound.

Police are not charging the 911 caller, identified as 47-year-old Toryman Everett of Smyrna, at this time, Pierce said. Everett and his wife were inside the home at the time of the shooting. They are cooperating with investigators, Pierce said.

No other details were released.
