The historical restoration of a barn at Violet F. Stout Park was approved 5-0 Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Leatherwood Inc. will be paid $125,480 for the design, permitting and construction services of the 1930s barn at 5420 Brownsville-Lithia Springs Road near Powder Springs.

Funding will come from the Violet F. Stout Trust Fund.

The original 80.77 acres were donated to the county in 1966 by Richard Stout.

Then the county bought about 137 acres of adjacent property to add to the new park.

This property is opened only for scheduled programs and not for daily public access.

Programs at this park may be scheduled through Cobb’s Natural Resources Management Unit by calling 770-528-8824.
