The Cobb County Board of Commissioners continues to move forward to negotiate the purchase of $27.4 million in parks properties, in spite of four of the top 10 being dropped from the list.

These properties were authorized for purchase through the parks bond measure approved by the commissioners on April 11, according to a county statement.

“Of the original 10 properties identified as the highest in priority, four have been removed from consideration based on the fact that the county was not able to reach an agreement with property owners or the properties were unsuitable for park purposes,” said Pat Riley, the real estate attorney in the Cobb County Attorney’s Office who is handling negotiations on behalf of the county.

Properties removed from the nominated list were on Baker, Post Oak Tritt, Fowler and Kurtz Roads.

Riley advised the Cobb Board of Developments of this update during an executive session on Monday - closed to the public since the matters regarded real estate acquisitions.

Given the removal of properties from consideration, the board has directed that additional properties be added to the active list under consideration, Riley added.
