Cobb County school employees face layoffs, pay cuts and changing job duties under proposed cuts the board will discuss tonight.
Cobb has collected $32 million less this year due to falling local tax collection, state contributions, federal dollars and interest income.
In addition, the school board had planned to spend about $26 million more this year to pay for increases in health insurance and retirement costs as well as pay raises, said school board spokesman Jay Dillon.
The cost increases along with the revenue losses have recreated a $58 million deficit.
The school board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the offices at 514 Glover St., Marietta.
