The Cobb County Police Athletic League will host a non-contact football camp for youngsters at Tramore Park.

The camp, which is free and open to boys and girls ages 8 to 17, will be held 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 18-21 at the park at 2150 East West Connector in Austell.

Cobb PAL’s free camp will be followed by its 6th Annual Paul Oliver Life Skills Football Camp, which is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21 at Harrison High School. The Life Skills camp is open to Police Athletic League athletes.

The Cobb Police Athletic League is a nonprofit organization that uses athletics and recreation to prevent juveniles from embarking on a path of crime.

According to its website, the Cobb league was created in 2011 and allows youth who are unable to join organized sports teams due to costs participate in the group’s athletic programs.

Officers serve as mentors and coaches in the league, which offers sports such as baseball, football and soccer camps, midnight basketball, stepping, martial arts and track.
