Spring is in the air, which means it’s the perfect time to clear out items taking up precious space in your home.

Cobb County will help you achieve this task when it hosts a Community Recycling Day from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Jim Miller Park at 2245 Callaway Road SW in Marietta.

You can recycle electronics such as computers, cell phones, gaming systems, hard drives and fax machines; household textiles such as shoes, clothing, purses, pillows, stuffed toys, sheets, towels, books, blankets and car seats; household appliances such as stoves, microwaves, ovens, washers and dryers, water heaters, blenders and toasters; and shred medical bills, bank and credit card statements, letters and personal documents.

This event is free to the public, but the county does charge $10 to recycle CRT televisions and monitors.

If you have old medications collecting dust in various cabinets, the county will host a Medication Disposal Event  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at Cobb County Police Department’s Precinct 1 at 2380 Cobb Parkway NW In Kennesaw.

Prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams and vials will be accepted. Organizers will not accept needles or sharps or durable medical equipment such as nebulizers and CPAP machines. Medicines collected will be immediately sealed in boxes and destroyed in compliance with federal law.
