More than two weeks after he was struck while riding a motorcycle, a Cobb County man died Sunday afternoon at a Florida hospital.

Steven Thomas Mize, 54, of Marietta, was injured the morning of Sept. 30 while on his 2003 Harley Davidson when Penny Lynn Wilcox failed to yield while turning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Wilcox, 27, was cited for failing to yield, but the wreck is still under investigation, Lt. Steven Preston told the AJC. Wilcox, of Navarre, Fla., was driving a 2008 Acura sedan and sustained minor injuries in the wreck, which took place in Santa Rosa County, police said.

Mize was not wearing a helmet, police said. He was transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla, where he remained until his death.

Other medical complications were a factor in Mize's death and an autopsy will be conducted, police said.
