A 26-year-old bank robbery suspect was arrested in Smyrna after police spent weeks searching for him across the country.
Abdou Seye — from the Columbus, Ohio area — was arrested Friday at 2 p.m. by Cobb County police and FBI agents, according to an FBI news release.
He is accused of bank robberies in Mobile, Alabama, Cincinnati and Miami.
A federal charging document from the alleged Miami robbery says Seye walked into the bank on June 16, grabbed the bank manager by the back of his neck and demanded money.
“Seye gave a five-second deadline and threatened to shoot if the manager did not comply,” according to the federal court document.
He threatened to shoot tellers before stuffing stacks of cash down the front of his windbreaker and running away.
Seye left with $57,002, according to the court filing.
The document said surveillance video from a nearby Chevron station showed him “running towards the gas station and into his vehicle with large amounts of U.S. currency in his hands.”
The vehicle was registered in his name to his Ohio address.
The FBI did not say why Seye was in Smyrna when he was arrested.
