Cobb County police have busted one of their own in a child porn case.

During a search of a policeman's home Wednesday morning, investigators seized "electronic media" items and submitted them for forensic examinations, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, a spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

Officer Jeremy Christopher Potts, 24, of Kennesaw, was then arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, Pierce said.

Potts was taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and was being held there Thursday under a $20,000 bond. He has resigned from the police department, Pierce said.

The case was investigated by the police department's Crimes Against Children Unit after investigators from the Department of Public Safety Internal Affairs Unit notified them of a complaint about a cop with porn on his computer, Pierce said. The department's High Tech Crimes Unit examined the items taken from Potts' home.
