A husband and wife chiropractor team from Marietta have been indicted on federal charges they submitted more than $11 million in fraudulent billings to Blue Cross Blue Shield and other private insurers.

Andrew Sokol, 41, and Julie Weisberg, 35, were indicted by a federal grand jury on Oct. 6 for conspiracy, health care fraud and mail fraud. Sokol also was charged with money laundering.

Sokol owned WellnessOne chiropractic clinics, with locations in Marietta, Buckhead, Duluth and Vinings. From January 2005 through September 2007, federal authorities said, the couple employed licensed medical doctors and physical therapists in order to submit billings for massage therapy, even though the doctors and physical therapists never saw the majority of their patients.
