City Schools Decatur’s final official K-12 enrollment count for this past school year is 5,041 — just one more student than the official fall totals. School districts provide official counts to the state in October and March, and the CSD’s October total was 5,040.

Although the numbers barely changed during the year, by no means does it mean enrollment is slowing. This year’s total was an 8.1 percent increase over 2015-16, which had a 7.3 increase over 2014-15, which jumped by 9.5 percent over 2013-14.

CSD’s enrollment has increased anywhere from 7 to 12 percent since 2009. Superintendent David Dude has computed his own short-term projections and anticipates overall enrolment swelling to 5417 in 2017-18, a 7½ percent increase.

Here are individual school enrollment breakdowns in the final official tally: Decatur High School—1,237 students; Renfroe Middle—1,122; 4/5 Academy at Fifth Avenue—882; Clairemont Elementary—356; Glennwood Elementary—308; Oakhurst Elementary—519; Westchester Elementary—342; Winnona Park Elementary—484.
