UPDATE: The restaurant was reinspected Friday and received a 93/A. One of the violations listed on the recent report was a repeat offense: "observed fly activity in main kitchen."

ORIGINAL STORY (May 31): A Chinese restaurant failed a recent health inspection, with officials noting "heavy fly activity in the main kitchen area."

Lucky Buddha, located at 529 10th St. NW, scored a 58/U following the Tuesday afternoon evaluation; 69 and below is considered failing. It also failed during an inspection in January.

According to the report, "eggs, rice and chicken wings were discarded” due to being held at improper temperatures.

Officials also reported heavy food debris and grease buildup on the outside of food storage containers, on the walk-in cooler floors and inside reach-in refrigeration units.

A man who answered the phone at the restaurant Wednesday afternoon said a manager was not immediately available for comment.

A legal notice was issued to correct all violations by June 9.
