The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved a developer’s plan for an age-restricted, “active adult” community on Hickory Road near Holly Springs.
The Carson Developments Inc. plans to build 82 attached homes on 21.6 acres at 5155 and 5175 Hickory, on the north side of road between East Cherokee Drive and Hickory Flat Highway.
County commissioners agreed to rezone the land from general commercial to agricultural-residential, and to allow certain variances, such as dead-end drives in lieu of culdesacs, in exchange for certain conditions.
These include restricting the community to residents 55 years of age and older, providing a sidewalk along Hickory Road, working with the local library board to run a sidewalk to a library next door, having professionals handle landscape and exterior maintenance, and retaining a professional management company to oversee day-to-day operations of the homeowners association.
