The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with The Children's Haven (formerly CASA for Children Inc.), a Canton-based nonprofit that provides trained, volunteer child advocates in Juvenile Court dependency proceedings.
“The volunteer child advocate promotes services for the child’s physical, medical, emotional and educational well-being during this vulnerable period and serves as a catalyst in the court system to ensure that the child does not linger in foster care, but is moved into a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible,” according to the agreement.
The School Board and Children’s Haven agree to maintain open communications, and to provide for presentations and information about the agency’s services to school principals, social workers, counselors and teachers, among other activities.
The agreement runs through Aug. 16, 2021 and automatically renews for additional terms of up to five years. Information: https://www.casacherokee.org/
