The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with the March of Dimes to involve schools, staff members and students in next spring’s March for Babies in Canton.

The program, according to a board resolution, “helps March of Dimes mission by providing funds for research and educating schoolchildren about the importance of healthy babies, what birth defects are, and to promote social responsibility … (and) gives students an opportunity to serve their community.”

According to the agreement, the district will provide a coordinator at each participating school site whose duties will include working with March of Dimes on implementing one or more programs of the nonprofit; distributing letters and supplies to students; setting an achievable school fundraising goal; and coordinating a Walk Team for the March for Babies in April.

The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support research to prevent birth defects, infant mortality and premature birth. Information: https://www.marchforbabies.org/
