Gwinnett County is throwing a pool party for its 200th birthday.

The county parks and recreation department is holding the Button Bash Bicentennial Birthday Party on Saturday, June 16. Guests will be able to play games and win prizes at West Gwinnett Park and Aquatic Center.

The party starts at 10 a.m. and costs $5 per person. The West Gwinnett Aquatic Center has an outdoor leisure pool with beach-style “zero depth entry” and two large waterslides. Guests can lounge on the lazy river and kids can play at the spray bar or in water play structures.

The pool is located at 4488 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Berkeley Lake.

What to know about Sears at Gwinnett Place Mall closing In May, Sears announced that its location at Gwinnett Place Mall will close. It was deemed one of more than a dozen "non-profitable" stores in the round of closures by the company. In June, a luxury apartment developer purchased the Sears building at Gwinnett Place Mall. Gwinnett County Commissioner Jace Brooks, who represents the area, called the purchase “a very positive move toward meaningful redevelopment” at the mall.
