A caregiver at a personal care home in Snellville, wanted by police after a man in her charge allegedly stabbed another resident, has surrendered to authorities on a reckless conduct charge, police said.

Caulette Mason Green failed to give a schizophrenic and bipolar resident his medications for several days before the incident, in which a man stabbed in the forehead a fellow resident who had tried to intervene in a dispute over cigarettes, police said. The victim survived the attack.

Green turned herself in on Monday and posted bond and was released the same day, Detective J. L. McDonald said.

The man who allegedly committed the Nov. 26 stabbing, Preston Horn, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and simple assault in the incident. He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

Horn was a resident of a personal care home operated by Best Care of Georgia on the 3000 block of Sonya Lane, police said. Several homes on the street are care facilities, and police have had to respond to more than 80 calls to them so far this year.

Green has voluntarily surrendered the license for her facility, police said, and the city of Snellville has placed a moratorium on issuing any new business licenses for personal care homes.
