Cobb County police are investigating a crash that sent one car spinning clockwise and killed the driver of another vehicle.

The fatal crash happened just before 2:15 p.m. Friday on South Atlanta Road at Plant Atkinson Road near Smyrna, Cobb police Lt. Nathan McCreary said late Sunday in a statement.

Randall Lewis, 33, of Dallas, was traveling south on South Atlanta Road in a white Suzuki GSX-R600. Samuel Dunmore, 64, of Smyrna, was trying to turn left onto Plant Atkinson Road in a blue 2009 Nissan Maxima.

Dunmore “entered into the path of the Suzuki,” and Lewis “attempted to avoid a collision by braking,” McCreary said.

“However, the front of the Suzuki collided with the right side of the Nissan. The collision caused the Nissan to begin a clockwise rotation.”

Lewis was pronounced dead on the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner. Dunmore was not injured. No one has been charged in connection with the collision.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
