Only minor injuries were reported Wednesday after a car ran off Buford Dam Road on the edge of Lake Lanier.
But the wreck shut down the Forsyth County road for more than three hours, the sheriff’s office said.
An image posted by deputies shows the water a few hundred feet down an embankment.
About 1 p.m., the wreck was reported and deputies closed the road, the Forsyth sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
Buford Dam Road was still closed shortly before 4 p.m. and traffic was being routed to Route 20.
