The city of Brookhaven has rescheduled its Tuesday road paving event because of inclement weather. The city has moved the ceremony to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodsdale Road.

City officials including Mayor John Ernst, Council Member Bates Mattison and Brookhaven Public Works Director Hari Karikaran will officially kick off the 2017 paving season with the first pouring of asphalt.

In April, the Brookhaven City Council approved a $4.72 million contract for road paving, the most aggressive in city history. The 10.7 miles of resurfacing, rehabilitation or reconstruction this year represents nearly 10 percent of all city-maintained streets.
