A 4-year-old boy was seriously burned early Wednesday after a house fire in DeKalb County.

The sound of smoke detectors in the Glendale Avenue home woke up the boy’s father, according to Channel 2 Action News. The father, mother and an older child escaped without injury, the news station reported.

The 4-year-old was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with second-degree burns.

It’s unclear what caused the blaze, which heavily damaged one of the back bedrooms.
