A 17-year-old girl was found alive in metro Atlanta more than a year after she disappeared from her Charlotte home, the FBI said.

The girl had not had any contact with family or friends since May 23, 2016, according to the agency. A reward was offered for information about her whereabouts.

A special agent in Charlotte received information that she might be in metro Atlanta, the FBI said.

Overnight, FBI Atlanta agents and detectives with the Gwinnett County Police Department found the girl at a home in the 2700 block of Seneca Trail in Duluth.

Michael Ren Wysolovski, 31, was taken into custody on charges of aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children/deprivation in the first degree, false imprisonment and interference with custody, according to Gwinnett jail records. The AJC does not name victims of sexual assault.

The girl was reunited with her parents, the FBI said.

Her family thanked everyone for their support and asked for privacy to focus on their daughter.
