Atlanta has lifted the boil-water advisory in most of the impacted areas, with the exception of the Mechanicsville neighborhood and the Campbellton-Fairburn Road area. Residents in these areas should continue to boil water for consumption or use bottled water; water is safe for bathing and hand-washing.

“Samples taken throughout the affected area confirmed no system-wide contamination of the public drinking water system occurred as a result of the power interruption at Hemphill pump station,” according to a Friday afternoon press release. “However, out of an abundance of caution, two isolated areas remain under a boil water advisory until final testing is completed.”

Results are expected to be available Saturday afternoon.

A Thursday morning power interruption triggered a temporary loss of pressure in some of the drinking water system served by the Hemphill Water Treatment Plant. The system was restored to normal operations in about 40 minutes.
