A body found floating in the ocean Monday near New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is believed to be that of a 17-year-old Lawrenceville boy.

Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Orlando reported that the boy, Aaron Miller, "vanished from the beach" around 5 p.m. Sunday and hadn't been seen since. Crews searched for him by helicopter, boat and foot, but it was beachgoers who discovered a body — which had not been confirmed as Miller's — while swimming in the ocean.

The body was discovered around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Miller was believed to be in the area, which is about 15 miles down the Atlantic coast from Daytona Beach, with friends to celebrate his high school graduation, Channel 9 reported. Friend Victoria Griffin told the station that another friend saw Miller get swept away in the ocean.

No further information was immediately available.
