Correction: A previous version of this story said McNair High; it has been corrected to McNair Middle.
In a confounding discovery, a DeKalb County police officer said he found a man shot dead near a middle school and a public park, with another man sleeping on a bench nearby.
Kenneth Adair, 28, was facedown in a parking lot at Mark Trail Park across the street from McNair Middle around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
He was identified by the driver’s license lying by his bloodied body in the lot off Tilson Road; the license said he’s a Louisville, Tennessee resident.
The victim, who apparently had been shot in the head, wasn’t wearing pants, and none could be found nearby, police said.

While officers were looking over the scene, they found Victeur Bingham, 20, of Atlanta, sleeping on a bench some 50 yards from the victim.
A detective questioned Bingham. He wasn’t charged with the shooting, but was accused of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the report.
Police also found shell casings, which appeared to be from a 9mm handgun.
DeKalb police haven’t responded to questions about whether a suspect or motive has been identified.
