Decatur’s school board has announced a special session for 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Central Office/Beacon Municipal Center, 125 Electric Ave., when it may announce the school system’s 10th superintendent since 1900.
The meeting includes an executive session and two action items:
- Superintendent Search Update and
- Superintendent Search Finalist announcement if process is complete.
Between August 18 and Sept. 16 the board interviewed eight candidates, and Board Chair Garrett Goebel previously said it would announce up to three finalists. But the second action item clearly indicates a single-person announcement.
Current Superintendent Phyllis Edwards formally resigned in March, though she remains on the job, and is under contract until Dec. 31.
