Bicyclist, 42, killed in collision in Cobb
A bicyclist was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon on Bells Ferry Road in Acworth.
Preliminary information is that the bicyclist was traveling southbound on the sidewalk alongside the northbound lanes when he lost control and entered the road, where he was hit by a silver 2006 Nissan Xterra, Cobb County police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said.
Timothy Austin, 42, of Woodstock was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The driver of the Nissan, 29-year-old Amanda Neill of Lilburn, was not injured.
Police are investigating the collision, but Neill is not expected to be charged, Bowman said.
