A Ball Ground man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he sexually assaulted two children, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

Daniel Baxter, 27, is charged with one count of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated sodomy, and two counts of sexual battery, authorities said. The alleged incident was reported to authorities Tuesday.

Although not related, the children, both under the age of 5, were acquainted with Baxter, Cherokee Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said in a news release.

Baxter remains in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.

While detectives are not aware of any other alleged victims at this time, anyone concerned about Baxter's possible conduct with their children should call investigators at 770-928-0239.
