Authorities seek serial DeKalb bank robber

May 10, 2012

The FBI and DeKalb County police are looking for a man suspected of robbing seven banks in the county.

The heists started in July 2011, and the most recent one was Monday, authorities said.

In each robbery, the suspect has waited in line before going to a teller's window, usually while talking on his cellphone. While no weapon has been observed during any of the incidents, the suspect has given the teller a note demanding money and threatening to use a gun.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 40s, between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall, with a medium build. He has short black hair and a gap in his front teeth.

During Monday afternoon's incident at a SunTrust Bank inside a Publix grocery store, the suspect fled without any money after showing a note and threatening to shoot the teller, the FBI's Atlanta office said in a news release.

The man, who was wearing a black cap, white Sean John T-shirt and dark pants, was seen getting into the driver's side of a red 1990s-model Buick or Oldsmobile with a Georgia license plate, authorities said. The vehicle left the parking lot via Mistletoe Road.

The seven bank robberies authorities believe the suspect is connected to are:
