Austell city officials are buying three police vehicles and, for the fire department, bunker gear.

During an online Zoom meeting, those decisions were made by 5-0 votes on May 4 by the Austell City Council with Councilwoman Sandra Leverette absent.

For the police vehicles, the cost is around $110,373 for three 2020 Ford Explorers at about $36,791 each, according to City Clerk Elizabeth Young in an email to the AJC.

Casey Jackson Ford in Royston in Northeast Georgia will be the supplier.

For the fire department, $63,944 will be paid for bunker gear for firefighters to wear as their uniform.

The money is coming from the 2018 sale by the city of a reserve fire engine, Young added.
