Cobb County investigators think they know who killed an Austell man in front of his 5-year-old daughter. But that suspect is no longer alive.

"This individual is no longer a threat to society," said Cobb District Attorney Pat Head.

The 28-year-old father, Jeremy McClendon, was found shot to death in his home on July 24 when his child's mother went to his Millstone Court home. The little girl was unharmed. McClendon was robbed of cash, weapons and drugs, Head said.

"Mr. McClendon was a low-level dealer in marijuana," Head said.

A gun stolen from McClendon's home turned up in Trenton, N.J, Head said. Anthony D. Kennebrew, 27, turned the gun into police. On Aug. 27, Kennebrew was found shot to death in Trenton. He was the suspect in McClendon's death, Head said.

"Another drug deal went bad," Head said, explaining Kennebrew's death.

McClendon's mother, Kimberly McClendon, said Thursday police worked relentlessly to find her son's killer.

"It give me a lot of closure," said Kimberly McClendon, fighting back tears. "That's my only child, and I can never get him back.
