The start of the week will bring more sunny skies and warm temperatures. But the rain is expected to return midweek.
Monday morning started out chilly, with some areas recording temperatures in the low to middle 40s, but a quick warm-up will pull highs into the upper 70s and low 80s.
Predawn readings on Monday ranged from 40 degrees in Cartersville and 42 in Peachtree City to 53 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
More sunshine is expected Tuesday, when temperatures will hit the low 80s, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. Our average high for this time of year is 73 degrees.
But things will change late Wednesday, when rain will move into the area, bringing chance for hail and damaging winds. Tune into Channel 2 news or go to wsbtv.com for weather updates.
"There is a concern that the storms may be severe," Nitz said.
The rain could linger Thursday and Friday, but temperatures should remain warm throughout the week. The forecast for Easter weekend also includes warm temperatures, with Sunday's high expected to be around 75 degrees. Scattered showers are possible.
