Atlanta schools consider bus safety improvements

Atlanta public school officials are reviewing school bus safety after two recent incidents involving guns.

Spokesman Stephen Alford said Tuesday that school leaders will gather input from parents and consider ways to improve security.

School buses already have video cameras installed, and parents have suggested that the school district check book bags or have personnel onboard to monitor students, Alford said.

Students reported that a man approached a Maynard Jackson High School bus with a gun on Monday, and last week a Sutton Middle School eighth-grader shot another student with a pellet gun on a bus.
