An off-duty Atlanta police officer was charged in an accident that injured two on the Downtown Connector Saturday.

Officer A. Harp was charged with following too closely after the wreck. He told police he rear-ended another vehicle while swerving to avoid a vehicle that entered his northbound lane.  The force of impact was enough to force the vehicle he struck into ramming another vehicle, said police.

Officer Harp and the driver of the vehicle he struck were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
