UPDATE: Our House passed a re-inspection Monday with a 99/A. It received one violation, for a high-temperature dishwasher "leaking when in use."
President and CEO Tyese Lawyer said she is proud of the new score.
“This score is more in line with our previous A ratings over the last 5 years,” Lawyer said in an email.
ORIGINAL STORY (published Feb. 21): An organization that serves the homeless community failed a recent health inspection, Fulton County records show.
Our House in Atlanta scored a 64/U following the Tuesday evaluation. Scores below 70 are considered failing.
According to the report, there were multiple food items with expiration dates from 2017. Officials also reported that the facility was “in need of a thorough deep cleaning including all floors, walls and ceilings,” and that the current food service permit was not posted.
President and CEO Tyese Lawyer said Wednesday that the organization is taking steps to make sure protocol is being followed.

The kitchen manager has been out due to a “catastrophic illness,” Lawyer said. She added that Our House was working with a substitute kitchen manager during the transition, but will no longer use that person.
Lawyer pointed to two violations that docked nine points off the score: dented cans and incorrectly stored foods. She said those were “easily correctable” violations that were fixed before the inspector left.
The location’s prior score, from May 2017, was a 90/A.
Follow-up inspections are generally completed within 10 days of the original evaluation.
