Atlanta City Councilman Michael Julian Bond’s holiday food and toy drive at will continue at City Hall until Friday, Dec. 21. Bond began the food and toy drive on Monday, December 3 with a concert by the Department of Watershed Management’s employee chorus. Since then, city employees have donated more than ten cartons of toys and nonperishable food. The canned food will be donated to Hosea Feed the Hungry. The toys will go to Men of Distinction-Women of Distinction and Greater Vine City Opportunities Program Inc.
“With such a positive response, I felt as though it were my duty to extend the food drive,” Bond said. “It is this sort of response that demonstrates that our employees are civil servants in the truest sense.”
Donations can be dropped off in the Atlanta City Council lobby on the second floor of Atlanta City Hall at 55 Trinity Avenue S.W. For more information, visit www.atlantapost1.com, email mbond@atlantaga.gov or call 404-330-6770.
