The Georgia Department of Public Health and the Governor’s SHAPE Initiative have awarded a $5,000 grant to The Intown Academy, a K-8 charter school in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.

The money will be used to develop a school garden, plan wellness events on campus and provide Farm to School field trips next school year.

Department of Public Health Commissioner Brenda Fitzgerald said the grant will help children learn the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating.
