The Atlanta Braves may be moving to Cobb County — but on Saturday, they'll be in Gwinnett.
Sort of, anyway.
Team officials — plus a few players — will visit Dacula Park, where big league field director Ed Mangan has helped guide the refurbishment of a baseball field and batting cages. The effort is part of a Braves Foundation pledge to refurbish 10 metro Atlanta fields following the retirement of Chipper Jones, who wore No. 10.
The Braves have already spruced up fields in Atlanta, Marietta and Powder Springs.
Saturday's festivities at Dacula Park, 205 Dacula Road, begin at 10:30 a.m. and will include a ribbon-cutting and ceremonial first pitch. Current Atlanta Braves catcher Anthony Recker, former Brave Greg McMichael and Gwinnett Braves Stephen Janas and Bradley Roney will be among those attending.
"Signage acknowledging Chipper Jones and the refurbishment will be permanently installed at each location," officials said in a news release.
