Thirteen Atlanta Public Schools with large populations of impoverished children have been recognized for meeting state academic targets at least three years in a row. These "Title 1 Distinguished Schools" are Continental Colony Elementary, Burgess-Peterson Academy, Bunche Middle, Brown Middle, South Atlanta Health and Medical Science High, The School of the Arts at Carver High, Rivers Elementary, Inman Middle, KIPP West Atlanta Young Scholars Academy, Charles R. Drew Charter, Atlanta Charter Middle, Early College High at Carver and Sutton Middle. A total of 824 Georgia schools earned the designation this year.
