The Alpharetta City Council has approved a $129,863 design contract with Jacobs Inc. to draw up a master plan for Wills Park and its Equestrian Center.

Both facilities need updates and improvements, staff said in a report to the council. “These plans will provide the city with priorities and cost estimates … with the final plans due by the end of August,” staff said.

Besides meeting with city, parks and equestrian center staff, Jacobs is to conduct an online survey, organize focus groups, and facilitate a public meeting with residents, property owners, businesses and interested groups, according to a Scope of Work.

Possible program elements include retaining the existing ball diamonds, covered equestrian arena, tennis courts and aquatics facility; an expanded community center; a show ring, schooling ring and lunging ring and new horse barns at the equestrian center; a relocated disc golf course; an enlarged or relocated community garden; a pavilion for up to 50 people, and a cricket pitch.
