The Alpharetta City Council has approved an engineering consultant’s $80,720 proposal to prepare construction documents for improvements to Windward Park.
Pond & Co. designed the original Windward Park Master Plan in 2017, and will now be charged with developing plans for site grading, pathways/walkways and definition of spaces for future playgrounds, shelters, planting areas and restrooms, according to a staff report to the council.
Utility connections and storm water management, to accommodate the full future project of the master plan, also are to be shown.
The site, currently the Windward Soccer Complex, is a 3.2-acre property with small soccer field at Windward Parkway and Admiral Crossing. Mayor Jim Gilvin recommended that the city explore a new name for the park, as a new mixed-use development also named Windward Park is under construction at Windward and Northpoint parkways.
